We are two sisters, Mdm Kamala Koddiappan and Mrs Kala Baskaran also known as the, Sew Sisters.

In 2008, Ms Kamala gave a speech in Republic Polytechnic on
‘The Entrepreneur in You’ to encourage homemakers to start their own home business to create an extra source of income for themselves.
She also conducts business development talks to encourage ladies, especially homemakers
to pick up new skills to increase their earning potential.
Our Projects
Alisha Fashion and Dressmaking School has collaborated with the following organisations to impart basic sewing skills to empower women to acquire useful work-related skills and knowledge.
2007
We collaborated with People’s Association and conducted Saree Blouse and Punjabi Suit courses in community centres.
2008
We had students from North East CDC, who learned how to stitch Malay Costumes and Sari Blouse.
2009 – 2011
Alisha Dressmaking & Fashion School collaborated with SINDA ( Singapore Indian Development Association) in a community reachout programme to empower women to start their own home business.
2011
We collaborated with PPIS (Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura) – Jurong Family Service Centre and taught women curtain making skills to enable them to start their own home business in curtain making.
All courses are taught by Ms Kamala, who is the founder and director of Alisha and Fashion Dressmaking School and Principal Trainer, Ms Kala Baskaran. Both of them are passionate about empowering their students to unfold their innate potential and creativity within them to become skilled dressmakers.
Mdm Kamala
Principal
Mdm Kamala has received the Lifelong Learning Award from Mr. Lee Hsien Loong , Prime Minister of Singapore, in November, 2004 of Singapore
Mdm Kamala has been in the fashion and garment industry since 1975.
She holds several certifications from local and International.
Mdm Kamala is trained by ‘ Master Tailors’ in New Delhi for Salwar Kameez
and Chennai for Sari Blouse.
Mdm Kamala also received her training from Master Tailor D.S.Aiyyelu in India,
for sewing Bharatha Natyam Dance Costumes.
Mrs Kala Baskaran
Vice Principal
Mrs Kala Baskaran has attained her tailoring qualifications from ITE, Singapore.
She has also completed her Pattern Drafting and Fashion Garment certification from
from LaSalle College of Arts.
She has also been trained and mastered her sewing skills from her sister, Mdm Kamala.
Both of them have worked closely and established various tailoring and dressmaking courses in Alisha Fashion and Dressmaking School.
Mrs Kala Baskaran has also taught the following courses in these organisations.
